In the 14th century, the book about The Travels of the Knight Jean de Mandeville was written, in which a still unknown author takes his readers to distant, exotic places. In it, he describes encounters and adventures of his journey, which probably lasted 30 years. These travel accounts are illustrated by 74 enchanting miniatures depicting fantastic animals and mythical creatures, as well as beautiful landscapes and varied building styles. They were created for the French king John the Fearless.
